이 투어를 마무리하는 장소는, 바로 서울!

“저희의 음악이 일상생활에서 사람들과 나누는 이야기처럼 용해되었으면 합니다. 해외 라이브라면 ‘특정 국가의 아티스트’라는 특수효과 없이, 평소에 듣는 음악으로 접해 라이브에 왔으면 좋겠습니다. ‘우연히 어느 국가의 사람이었다’라는 게 저희에게 이상적입니다.”

외계인이라는 뜻을 가진, yahyel(야옐)은 2015년 3명의 멤버가 모여 결성하고, 라이브 활동이 본격화되면서 드러머와 VJ를 담당하는 멤버들을 영입했다. 어쿠스틱 사운드를 포스트 덥스텝 사운드로, 그리고 그 전자 사운드를 다시 라이브로 방출하는 과정에 대한 이해가 탁월하다. 익명성을 내세운 그들이 라이브에 서기 위해, 무대의 조명을 끄고 시각화 된 영상으로 음악을 표현해내면서, 그들은 아주 영리하게 라이브라는 포맷을 활용한다.

음반의 마스터링을 담당하는 Matt Colton은, Arca, Aphex Twin, Blood Orange, Brian Eno, Coldplay, Elliott Smith, FKA Twigs, Flume, Four Tet, James Blake, Kanye West, Lapsley, Muse, New Order, Nosaj Thing, Panda Bear 등의 아티스트 또한 담당했으며, 그는 yahyel의 음악을 두고 “동시대적이고, 국경 없는 음악이라고 생각한다. 많은 사람들이 들어보았으면 좋겠다. 그들에 곡에는 그럴 가치가 있다.”라고 말했다.

yahyel의 VJ 멤버 Dutch Tokyo는 현지에서 현재 가장 영향력 있는 영상 감독으로, 본격적으로 데뷔한 2017년, 2018년에 노미네이트된 시상식에서 전부 수상하며 ‘사상 최연소 수상자’라는 수식을 거머쥘 정도의 실력을 가졌다. 음악으로만 구성된 트랙이 100%의 효과를 지닌다면, 그 효과를 라이브에서 120%로 확장하여 세계관을 표현할 수 있도록, ‘영상을 연주한다’는 말을 이 공연에서 입증할 것이다.

yahyel을 자처했지만, 결국은 인간관계와 소통에 대해 이야기하는 그들은 공연에서 독특한 악곡을 완벽히 재현하고 공연마다 제각기 다른 편곡 방식 뿐만 아니라 독창적인 VJing을 통해서 매 순간을 다르게 연출하며, 한 번 한 번의 공연을 놓치기 아까운 마음이 들게 만드는 완벽한 퍼포먼스를 선보인다.

3월 말에 진행 예정인 현지 단독 콘서트의 공연은 1000석의 규모이지만, 이미 몇 달 전부터 SOLD OUT!

2집 발매 이전에 공개한 싱글 ‘Rude’는 Flume, Classixx, Ta-Ku 등이 소속된 유명 레이블 ‘Future Classic’의 Recommends 선정!

급속도로 활동 반경를 넓히고 있는 yahyel의 한국 라이브는 지금의 타이밍이 아니면 좀처럼 없을 기회로 예상된다.

이번 내한 공연의 게스트로는, 밴드 Pony가 (한 차례의 특수한 경우를 제외하고) 2년이 넘는 공백기를 깨고 게스트 출연을 결정했다. 또한, 해외 매체들에게서 큰 주목을 받고, [Human] 음반에 수록된 ‘Polytheism’에 피쳐링한 XXX의 김심야까지 함께한다. 한국에서의 yahyel 공연은, ‘Polytheism’의 완벽한 라이브를 들을 수 있는 마지막 기회가 될 것으로 보인다.

비슷한 결을 가진 사운드로 쌓아 올린 트랙을 들려주지만, 각기 다른 온도를 방출하는 아티스트들이, 4월 14일 홍대에 위치한 KT&G 상상마당 라이브홀에서 영상과 함께한 라이브를 통하여, 입장 번호와 무관하게 온전히 공연이란 미디어에 집중할 수 있는 독특한 경험을 관객들에게 선보일 것이다.

또한, 이번 yahyel의 내한 공연은, 이 공연을 주최한 creator team인 AVACT의 Ex-formation Project의 서막을 여는 공연으로, AVACT가 준비한 특별한 티켓과 배경음악까지도 공연장에서 즐길 수 있을 것이다.

“We want that our music is melted in with the same feeling as talking with people in every life. When We go abroad, We want you to visit the ours live as a music that you listen to from the usual, not a gimmick ‘artist who came from specific country’. ‘It is the ideal form that ‘artists from certain countries, coincidentally’ to us”

yahyel, which means "alien," was formed by three members in 2015, and according to the live activities have become bigger scale, the members of the drummer and VJ have been recruited. They have an excellent understanding of how to convert acoustic sound to post-dubstep sound, and how to release the electronic sound at the live venue. yahyel, which aims to be anonymous, uses the format of live very smartly, to turn off the stage lighting and turn on the visualization of Vjing, yahyel express their music one more time.

Matt Colton who has been mastering yahyel's sounds mastered the recordings of various artists such as Arca, Aphex Twin, Blood Orange, Brian Eno, Coldplay, Elliott Smith, FKA Twigs, Flume, Four Tet, James Blake, Kanye West, Lapsley, Muse, New Order, Nosaj Thing, Panda Bear and etc. He thought of yahyel's music as "Their sound is contemporary and borderless. I hope many people listen it. They deserve it.”

Yahyel’s VJ member ‘Dutch Tokyo’ is the most influential video director in the region at present. He won all of the nominations in 2017 and 2018 when he made his debut in earnest, and he is a talented VJ with the formula of 'the youngest winner in history'. “If a music has a 100% effect, I have expressed the world view by expanding the effect to 120% in live through ‘playing video’”, he said. He will demonstrate it in this concert, too.

If a track composed entirely of music has a 100% effect, it will be demonstrated in this concert that you can 'play the video' in order to extend the effect to 120% in live and express the world view.

Althought yahyel call themselves 'yahyel(alien)', eventually, yahyel have been talking about relationships and communication. They perfectly reproduce the unique pieces of live, and at the same time, they perform different performances with different arrangements as well as creative VJing for each performance, showing a perfect performance that makes you miss it.

Although the local's yahyel solo concert which is scheduled to be held at the end of March is 1000 seats, it has been already SOLD OUT!

The single 'Rude' released before the release of the 2nd album was selected as Recommendation of the overseas famous label 'Future Classic' belonging to artists such as Flume, Classixx, Ta-Ku!

Yahyel, who is expanding the scope of activity rapidly, Live in Korea is expected to be a little difficult to see unless it is this opportunity.

As a guest of this performance, the band PONY decided to appear as a guest after breaking the gap of more than two years. In addition, it is accompanied by KIM XIMYA of XXX who has been attracting much attention from overseas media and featured in 'Polytheism' recorded in [Human] album. The yahyel performance in Korea seems to be the last chance to hear 'Polytheism' complete live.

The artists who play to the tracks piled up by composing sound with similar textures, but who emit each different temperatures in live will show you live on April 14 at the KT&G SangSangMaDang Live Hall with VJing. Through this performance, we will give you the unique experience of concentrating on Live Time, which is entirely independent of the entry number.

In addition, this yahyel’s concert will be the opening of Ex-formation Project of AVACT, creator team that hosted this performance, so that special tickets and background music prepared by AVACT will be enjoyed at the venue.
